Brain injury is more common than you think. It can be acquired as a result of such problems as stroke, Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Parkinson’s or even poisoning. Brain injury can also be caused by physical damage to the brain e.g. from an accident. This is called Traumatic Brain Injury.
We may all know people with a brain injury. The question is; do we know how to best help them and their families? This seminar gives a sneak peek into brain injury and how to help friends and relatives with this issue.
Kate Dawes, the presenter, is a social worker and one of the BIRU team that worked with Brian Mee in recovery from his motorcycle accident. Kate presented information to help us to know how to support Brian as he recovers and also to gain understanding of the way to help other friends and relatives with acquired brain injury.
In addidtion, a 2-CD recording of the presentation is available here.
